TWL HELP UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE BACK TO WORK

19th December 2008

TWL HELP UNEMPLOYED PEOPLE BACK TO WORKLocal training provider TWL has joined forces with Travelodge in Blackpool to provide eighteen unemployed people with jobs at the two new Travelodge hotels opening in the resort this week.

With unemployment levels rising, TWL held pre-recruitment training programmes to help combat unemployment and prepare people for interviews and jobs in a range of areas within the hotel including management, catering and hospitality.

Amongst those recruited is Julia McDonald-Barber from Fleetwood who has been made Assistant Manager of Travelodge Central. Julia said: “TWL’s training programme helped me a lot, it increased my interview skills and gave me the confidence to speak out and show my abilities. I was so pleased when I found out I had got the job, without the help and support from TWL I don’t think I would have been successful.”

Chris Loran, Travelodge Manager commented, “With two new hotels opening in Blackpool this week it was essential to place the right people in the right job quickly and efficiently. We are committed to providing local people with these jobs, and are delighted we’ve been able to work with TWL to put a strong workforce in place ready for the launch.”

The weeklong course incorporated interview techniques and communication, which provided individuals with essential skills and knowledge to succeed not only in securing a job but performing well once in the workplace.

Sharon Cavey, TWL Manager said: “Providing training is an essential aspect of getting unemployed individuals into the workplace. Successfully enabling eighteen people to gain jobs at Travelodge has highlighted the importance of this training, giving applicants increased self confidence and helping to reduce unemployment levels not only in Blackpool but across the region.”
