TWL TEAM WORKS WITH CHORLEY COUNCIL TO IMPROVE AREA

7th April 2009

TWL TEAM WORKS WITH CHORLEY COUNCIL TO IMPROVE AREAA TEAM of learners from TWL Training Ltd took part in Chorley Council’s ‘Week of Action’.

The Environmental Taskforce Group (ETF) spent the day on Northgate Drive, off Botany Brow, as part of the local authority’s push to brighten up the area and stop fly-tipping.

Designed by training provider TWL and funded by Jobcentre Plus and the European Social Fund, ETF forms part of the wider New Deal programme that aims to provide valuable work experience to those who want to return to work.

Jan Holding, TWL project supervisor, said: “We were delighted to be part of the Week of Action and it has resulted in some real improvements to the local area.

“In the first two hours, we filled two skips full of waste and the response from the community was fantastic. By the end of the day, five skips had been filled, which is a great achievement, showing the hard work and enthusiasm of the ETF group

“Fly-tipping is a real blight on local communities and we are delighted to be doing our bit in offering local people the chance to dispose of their rubbish in the correct way.

“ETF is a win-win for everyone involved, allowing us to work in partnership with agencies such as Chorley Council to improve local areas while at the same time offering participants the opportunity to gain hands on experience working within the community.”
