TWL TEAMS UP WITH TESCO FOR JOBS SUCCESS
30th June 2009
MORE than 50 people have landed a job thanks to a successful partnership between Preston training provider TWL and Tesco.
TWL Training Ltd, based in Marshall House, Ringway, teamed up with the supermarket giants to help recruit employees to work in the new Tesco Home Plus store in Walton-le-Dale.
Just over 50 learners on TWL’s Skills for Jobs programme successfully secured a job at the store, which opened its doors earlier this month.
Co-funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and the European Social Fund (ESF), Skills for Jobs works with unemployed people to help them achieve their goals. Learners are given help to brush up on skills such as CV writing, job applications and interview techniques
Learners are also taught you the skills needed once they’ve found employment, such a working in teams, health and safety regulations and
numeracy skills.
Natalie Birchall, from TWL Training Ltd, said: “It’s great news that more than 50 of our learners have now found employment with Tesco. We are really pleased for all of them.
“During these difficult economic times, it’s important that we work with employers such as Tesco to allow them to grow. Having a skilled workforce is essential and, by working with Tesco at the pre-recruitment stage, we have been able to find employment for our learners while at the same time ensuring that Tesco has the right staff to ensure its store in Walton-le-Dale is a success.”
