SWINDON’S V CARS DRIVERS CELEBRATE SUCCESS THANKS TO TWL TRAINING
27th July 2009
DRIVERS at Swindon’s leading private hire operator are celebrating after gaining valuable qualifications which will see them drive up even greater standards of service, efficiency and customer care.
TWL Training Ltd teamed up with Swindon-based V Cars to offer NVQ Level 2 training in Road Passenger Vehicle Driving and a Level 2 BTEC qualification in Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire.
In addition, drivers were offered the chance to brush up on their numeracy and literacy skills in partnership with Solomon Training.
A total of 49 drivers have now achieved their qualifications, and to celebrate their achievements, they were presented with their certificates by the Mayor of Swindon, Cllr David Wren, at a ceremony held at Swindon train station.
Funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) Train to Gain, the courses equip drivers with knowledge to enable them to perform at their best, resulting in higher levels of customer service and better equipped drivers, able to deal with any situation or request.
Paul Fleming, Senior Operations Manager at TWL Training Ltd, said: “We are delighted for all the drivers, they have worked hard to gain their qualifications and are now reaping the rewards.
“This programme is one of the first in the country and was designed to provide drivers with key skills such as learn how to transport children, disabled passengers, elderly as well as the compulsory legal understandings required for licensed drivers.
“With the assistance of the Skills Brokerage Service, V Cars was able to access a range of funded learning. During these difficult economic times, training is essential in order to give companies a competitive edge, and we are delighted to be working with V Cars to help deliver this.”
Dan Lane, General Manager at V Cars, said: “We are very proud of the drivers’ achievements and, by working with TWL, they now have a range of up-to-date skills
“As the region’s private hire operator, we recognise that having a fully-trained, skilled workforce is essential in modern business to keep us ahead of our competitors.
“TWL’s flexible approach enables us to drive our business forward with even greater levels of customer care and a more efficient and quality service for our clients.”
